At Monday’s school board meeting, the Sidney School Board recognized six students for their work over the past month.
The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:
Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work, G.P.A. or attitude toward learning.
Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.
Outstanding Contribution to the class.
Leadership exhibited in the class/school.
Citizenship emphasized and modeled.
Service to school.
Recognized for the February Performance Awards, with nominating comments, were:
7th Grade – Jaeden Dillehay
Jaeden Dillehay has a positive and cheerful attitude that is contagious at Sidney Middle School. He is polite and respectful to his peers in addition to his friends, as well as adults. Jaeden understands the value of teamwork and can often be found helping those around him. Jaeden is constantly striving to work to his personal best and takes responsibility to do whatever is necessary to reach that standard. Jaeden is active in Football, Basketball and Spirit Club. Jaeden is the son of Shawn and Kelle Dillehay.
8th Grade - Paige Pritchard
Paige Pritchard has been selected as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade student of the month for February. Paige was selected for her excellent work ethic and positive attitude. She strives to do her very best and it shows in her academic success. Paige is also friendly and helpful to those around her. She can often be seen helping her fellow classmates. For all of her positive attributes, Paige is an excellent choice to represent Sidney Middle School’s student of the month. Paige is the daughter of Sean and Michelle Pritchard.
9th Grade - Phyre Gonzales
She was nominated because of Academic Performance, Classroom Effort/Attitude, and Leadership. Phyre is a great student. She always comes to class prepared and ready to learn. She works hard and is always willing to accomplish challenging tasks. Phyre is a leader in the classroom and helps other students with their school work. She is very enjoyable in class. She is a member of Art Club, and Choir, and Unified Raiders. Her future plans are to make a photography club because that is something she thoroughly enjoys. Phyre is the daughter of Timothy Gonzales.
10th Grade – Corrine Lilley
Corinne was nominated because of her Academic Performance, and Classroom Effort/Attitude. Corrine does quality work every day. She comes to class prepared to learn. She is a member of Unified Raiders, Mock Trial, and the Speech Team. Outside of school she babysits and enjoys skiing. After high school graduation, she would like to attend a four year college, then go to law school. Corinne is the daughter of James and Christina Lilley.
11th Grade - Megan Wright
Academic Performance, Classroom Effort/Attitude, Leadership/Service/Citizenship.
Megan has emerged as one of JTOH’s strongest leaders. She is passionate and hard-working. She helps others, works for shared goals and has learned to resolve group conflict. In the classroom, she’s organized, prepared, respectful and stays on tasks. She excels in Second Language Acquisition as well. She is a member of JTOH and Culture Club. Art class is her favorite class in HS and her future plans are to attend UNK and she would like to someday go to Italy. Megan is the daughter of David Wright & Rebecca Anderson.
12th Grade – Devany Turner
Devany was selected because of her Classroom Effort/Attitude. Devany has devoted her time, effort and hard work to Psychology. I’ve not seen this level of academic commitment in the two years I’ve had her in class. She is prepared, well organized and contributes thoughtfully to class. Devany is a member of Danz Team, Art Club, League of Legends Club, Sidney Police Explorer Program. She works at the Fairfield Inn and she plans on attending Black Hills State University after high school and major in psychology & sociology, and minor in Russian. Devany is the daughter of Ken & Tara Turner.
