It might be a service that is no longer available but should be, or the next greatest kitchen or garage tool. Many people have ideas that could develop into prospering businesses. Sometimes the obstacle is connecting the vision with how to make it reality.
That is where events scheduled for March 15 and March 16 could help.
A Network Reception is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Dude’s Steakhouse Back Room. The reception is hosted by the Sidney & Cheyenne County Economic Development. The reception will be a time to meet other people considering starting an entrepreneurship, discussing challenges and successes.
“A lot of these people have been where people in Sidney are now,” Norgard said.
She said many of the speakers started out as entrepreneurs with dreams and became successful business leaders.
Friday, a Entrepreneurship and Startup Day is scheduled. The event is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Western Nebraska Community College Rooms 115/116. The day will offer guidance and help for entrepreneurs with ideas but unsure of how to make the dreams reality. Sidney Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard said the program will help with ideas to get started, how to design a successful business plan and will include a time for an entrepreneur to present his or her business pitch. Norgard said there is the possibility of funding sources present at the Friday meeting.
Friday includes a period for a motivational talk and entrepreneurial story, an introduction of mentors, a period for breakout groups with Econic, Investment Nebraska and mentors, and a discussion on regional resources.
Both events are free. For more information, contact Norgard by email at [email protected], or call 308-254-8455.
