Dalton Resident Nominated for ANG Award

LINCOLN - Staff Sgt. Richard L. Vath, a 2011 graduate of Leyton High School and a member of the Nebraska Air National Guard's 155th Air Refueling Wing in Lincoln, was nominated to compete in the Nebraska Air National Guard's 2017 Airman of the Year competition for the 155th Maintenance Group.

Staff Sgt. Vath is an Avionics Technician for the 155th Maintenance Group. The son of Gregory Vath of Dalton and Romy Vath of Gering, Neb., Vath was nominated for the award as part of the Nebraska Air National Guard's Outstanding Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year Competition. The competition, which is part of the much larger U.S. Air Force Outstanding Airman of the Year Competition, recognizes outstanding enlisted Airmen in a range of ranks that represent a cross-section of career fields for superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements.

SSGT. Vath is a six-year military veteran who graduated from the Community College of the Air Force with an Associate's Degree and completed his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016.
