Evelyn (Gaswick) Jones, 76, of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Sidney, NE. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 28th in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with Pastor Corey Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney on Wednesday, December 27th from 1-7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, or donate online to The National MS Society, http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/COC/Donate/Give-in-Honor-or-Memory. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Evie's care and funeral arrangements.
Evelyn was born in Hay Springs, NE to George and Doris (Butzine) Gaswick on December 8, 1941. She went to Hay Springs High School and attended Chadron State College. She married James Jones on June 12, 1962. They had two children, Rochelle and Robin.
She loved walking, biking, and the company of her many dogs.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her daughter Rochelle Batt, her parents George and Doris Gaswick, her brother George Gaswick, her sister-in-law Bonnie Gaswick; her brother-in-law: Ivan Wozniak and her seven fur children, Midge, Suzette, Heidi, Riley, Baxter, Murphy, and Dexter.
Evelyn is survived by her husband James of Sidney; son Robin of Denver; grandson Zachary Batt of North Platte; son-in-law Greg Batt of North Platte; a brother John Gaswick and wife Marilyn of Hay Springs; brothers and sisters-in-law: Judy and Tom Thomas of Rushville, Jill Wozniak of Gering and Jack and Debbie Jones of Glenallen, AK and numerous nieces and nephews.
