The Lady Storm won their second game of the season over the weekend against the Banner Wildcats, 59-30. The Lady Storm started fast and built a 28-13 lead in the first half with excellent defense and strong rebounding.
The Creek Valley girls started the second half in a full-court press that generated quick layups and points from the line. The Lady Storm only shot 41 percent from the line, but it was a big improvement from their previous starts. Creek Valley continued this scheme throughout the contest and outscored the Wildcats in the second half 29-17 to tally a final score of 59-30.
“The girls played very tough tonight and continued to work on our defense which has been a strength all season. They also were able to run two different types of presses that we can hopefully use in the next week,” said Creek Valley Head Coach Missy Koenen.
Payje Misegadis led the Lady Storm with a double-double scoring 20 points, and 17 rebounds. Payje also was two for three on three-point shots, and had two steals. Junior Jordyn Koenen also had a great game with a double-double scoring 10 points, with 12 rebounds. Senior Sami Schmid finished with 10 points, was 50 percent on the line, and had two rebounds and three steals.
“I’m very proud of the bench, since it was such a high scoring game I was able to get some younger players some experience that will help build our bench as the season continues on,” Coach Koenen added.
