Tough Defense Spurs Lady Raider Win

The Sidney Lady Raiders defeated Chase County Friday night, 53-39.

The Lady Raiders put up 14 points in the first quarter and 15 in the second for a 29-point half while keeping Chase County to 19 points.

The Lady Raiders then scored 12 in the third and fourth quarters to finish the game at 53 points.

"We played good defense tonight," coach Tyler Shaw said after the game.

He said they hit some jump shots early in the game which speared the team forward.

Junior Katelyn Sylvester lead the team in offense, earning 19 points with six field goals, two three-point shots, and one for three at the free-throw line. Meaghan Ross earned 11 points with one field goal and three from the three-point region. Janay Brauer ended the night with 10 points.

MJ Johnstone earned six points; Taylor Dormann, A Nesbitt and Natalie Radcliffe each earned two points.

The Lady Raiders host the Fort Morgan Mustangs on Friday, Dec. 15. Fort Morgan will enter the game with a 2-3 record while the Lady Raiders return to the court with a 3-1 record.

The Lady Raiders then return to the court Saturday, Dec. 16, to host Alliance.

The Lady Raiders close the first part of the season before Christmas Break Dec. 21 at home against Mitchell.
