Brenda S. Heckman - Obituary

Brenda Sue (Light) Heckman, age 67 of Sidney, NE died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Regional West Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 25th in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Church of the Nazarene, 1445 Jackson Street, Sidney, NE, 69162. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1-7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. Brenda Sue Heckman, the daughter of Charles and Benetta Light was born on February 7, 1950. She grew up in Sidney and later moved to Southern California where she was a hair dresser and raised a son and three daughters. In 2000 Brenda moved back to Sidney to care for her mother. She enjoyed many years working at Cabela's where she worked her way up to a management position. Brenda was faithful, dedicated and always made people smile. Brenda loved her children and family fiercely and was always nurturing, funny and kind. She was deeply loved and adored and will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include her siblings and their spouses: Mike and Dottie Light, LeaAnn and Mark Webster, Charles and Cecelia Light and Marty and Kari Light; (3) daughters and their spouses: Kimberly Gallegos, Lori and Dave Cesenas and Niki and James Weakland and their father Linden Sanders; her son: Rick Heckman and wife Jennifer and his father Richard Heckman; (6) grandchildren: Christina Jackson, Kimmie Gallegos, Matthew Gallegos, Zack Weakland, Nick Weakland and Marley Heckman; (2) great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; her favorite friend: Brenda Schumacher and her sweet dog Lucy.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father: Charles Light; her mother, a lifetime Sidney resident: Benetta Light; younger brother: David Light and her beloved dog Bobo.
