School Board Recognizes Top Students

The Sidney School Board recognized six students at Monday's board meeting, giving them kudos for their efforts in the classroom and activities.

The Monthly Performance Award acknowledges other criteria as well as achievement. These criteria are:

1. Superior academic performance, (or), dramatic improvement of classroom work,grade point average, or attitude toward learning.

2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project.

3. Outstanding Contribution to the class.

4. Leadership exhibited in the class/school.

5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled.

6. Service to school.

Recognized for the October Performance Awards, with descriptions of their achievements, are:

7TH GRADE – AUSTIN GLANZ

Austin Glanz is a hard working student.  He is always respectful to his teachers and peers.  Austin is very good at setting goals and reaching those goals.  Austin is a postive addition to the classroom and is willing to participate in whatever is requested. He was also a pleasant addition to the Middle School Cross Country team this past season.  Austin's parents are Travis and Carrie Glanz.

8TH GRADE – MAKINNA RAUNER

Makinna Rauner has been selected as the 8th-grade student of the month.  Makinna is very active in the school, she works very hard in the classroom, involved in many sports, and activities.  Thank you, Makinna, for being a great student and a leader in the classroom.  Keep working hard. Makinna is the daughter of Luke Rauner.

9th Grade – Chan Pandya

Chan is a phenomenal student and his willingness to learn is motivating for the other students. He is involved in Chess club & enjoys cubing. He likes the learning environment and the teachers at Sidney High School. He would someday like to become an Astrophysicist. Chan is the son of Pahik & Dipti Pandya.

10th Grade – Alexah Fort

Alexah maintains high academic standards while participating in SRTV, Dance, & Mock Trial. She is also a member of Science Club, Upper Room Youth Group, Band, and Just For Kix varsity team. She is always pleasant & welcoming. She enjoys hunting, shooting, & kayaking. Alexah is the daughter of Donna & Brian Fort.

11th Grade – Royal Paulsen

Royal was selected because of his academic effort. He has done a great job in Chem I during the 1st quarter.

Royal is the son of Amber Paulsen

12TH GRADE – MITCH PORTER

Mitch has consistently been a high achieving student and has kept well balanced even through his many extracurricular activities. He is a member of the Cross Country, Basketball, and Track teams. He is also a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, FBLA, Science Club, & Envirothon. He works at the Sidney Aquatic Center as a lifeguard in the summertime. He plans on attending a university and major in Molecular & Cellular Biology as well as Spanish. Mitch is the son of David & Carol Porter
