The Sidney Lady Raiders faced Gering in the B-8 SubDistrict volleyball playoffs Tuesday. Gering defeated Sidney 25-23, 25-17 and 25-21.
"Our girls didn't play disciplined last night (Tuesday, Oct. 31) and Gering was on their A-game," Lady Raiders coach Lu Howard said.
Sidney defeated Gering four of the last five meetings. On Sept. 21, Sidney defeated Gering 15-25, 25-19 and 26-24, on Oct. 7 25-21, 19-25 and 25-19, on Oct. 17 23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 and 15-10, Oct. 21 in two by 25-22 each and Gering took three straight in the SubDistrict action.
Gering defeated Sidney and Alliance in the B-8 SubDistrict play. The win helped put Sidney in a wildcard position for the District tournament. Sidney still earned a place in the next round of playoffs, earning enough points for a place in District play Saturday.
Sidney travels to Elkhorn South Saturday. Elkhorn is the No. 4 seed team and Sidney No. 13.
Defeating Elkhorn is necessary for the Lady Raiders to enter the State Tournament. The State Tournament is scheduled for Nov. 9-11.
