Potter-Dix defeats Banner County, Leyton

Potter-Dix volleyball played Banner County and Leyton Tuesday, earning a win in both contests.

Potter-Dix's Coyotes defeated Banner County's Wildcats 25-7, 25-17, then defeated Leyton's Warriors 25-17, 19-25 and 25-16.

Against Banner County, Potter-Dix had 10 kills of 23 attempts. Trinity Langley, senior, had five of 12 attempts, senior Payge Hoffman had three of five, and freshman Kelsey Hoffmand and senior Audrey Juelfs had one each.

The team also served 13 aces from 49 serve-attempts. Langley had four, Payge Hoffman and Kelsey Hoffman had three each, junior Brooke Moench had two and Juelfs had one.

Juelfs also had the only block of the game.

In the match with Leyton, the Warriors fell two sets to one. Sophomore Madelyn Watchorn lead the Warriors in kills completing 11 of 27 attempts. Senior Taylor Borges completed five of 18 kills; juniors Destinee Henke and Kelcie Vananne each had four kills. Junior Carly Fortune had three and junior Mariah Draper had one.

Leyton also had four serve-aces from 60 serve attempts. Fortune, Borges, Madison Widener and Watchorn had one each.

The Lady Warriors had eight blocks against Potter-Dix; Watchorn had four, Henke had two, Vananne and Fortune had one each.

So far this season, Potter-Dix has 560 kills, 228 blocks, 151 serving aces, 1,711 digs, 432 assists and 946 receptions.

Potter-Dix plays Hyannis at Potter and Creek Valley in Chappell on Monday, Oct. 23.

Leyton hosts Mullen Friday and a home tournament Tuesday with Banner County, South Platte and Minatare.
