A 53 year old Sidney woman remains hospitalized after a weekend dog attack which sent her and an year old female to the hospital.
Sidney police responded to the scene in the 1300 block of Osage after receiving a report that a dog had made an attack. Upon arrival, officers tazed the animal, which escaped the home and went into the neighborhood.
Police Chief Joe Aikens said when the officers made contact with the animal again, they were forced to euthanize it due to its continued aggressive behavior. The remains were transported to a local veterinarian to be tested for rabies.
The eight year old was treated and released at Sidney Regional Medical Center, while the older woman was transported to Regional West Medical Center. As of Monday she remained in intensive care. No update was given prior to press deadline.
Aikens said no citations or charges have been forwarded against the owner of the dog, although the incident is still being investigated. Results of that investigation will be forwarded to the Cheyenne County Attorney for review.
