The Sidney High School girls golf team finished two days of State competition in fifth place Tuesday.
"Fifth place is a great accomplishment for these girls," said coach Ryan Plummer. "I'm sad to close the chapter on this season, but I'm excited foe the future."
Sidney finished behind OmahaDuchesne Academy in first, Scottsbluff second, Gering third and Columbus fourth. Omaha won the tournament with a team score of 697. Sidney finished with a team score of 766, four strokes behind fourth place Columbus.
Senior Emma Alexander lead the Lady Raiders with a two-day finish of 169: 80 on round 1 and 89 on round 2. Juniors Janay Brauer and Tiara Ginther finished the tournament with 195 each, senior Paige Langley earned a 208 and Dru Rowan a 222.
"We completed all of our goals this season, which included second or better at districts and making it to state," Plummer said.
Plummer said next year's squad will have two seniors that were major contributors at this year's state tournament. Brauer and Ginther both will be seniors, and Amanda Beier will be returning as a junior. combined with a young talented team, he is looking to carry on the momentum next fall.
