William D. Rogers - Obituary

William D. Rogers, "Bill," of Omaha passed away on Tuesday, September 20th, with his family by his side. Bill was born on October 8, 1930 in Clyde, Kansas to Kenneth and Dena Rogers. He graduated from high school in Lewellen, Nebraska and attended Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. For three years, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea and returned to graduate from Kearney State College with a BA and an MA, both in Education.

Bill married the love of his life, Beryl Botts, in 1955. Bill taught and coached in Comstock and Sumner, Nebraska, and coached in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He found his passion for school administration in Sidney, Nebraska where, for 24 years, he touched many lives. After retiring Bill and Beryl lived in Mesa, Arizona for ten years, then Kearney, Nebraska, finally setting in Omaha in 2009 to be closer to his beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bill was a member of multiple professional and social organizations, and was a believer in Christ. He served in many capacities with a tender humility and grace; everyone he met was touched by his selfless nature.

Survivors include his wife, Beryl; daughter, Cheri Whitefoot (Doug) of Omaha; son, Mark Rogers (Beth) of Omaha; grandchildren: Melissa Brott (Jerrold), Matt Whitefoot (Hayley), Jake Rogers, and Lauren Rogers; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Delaney, Allyson Brott and Jonah and Liam Whitefoot, all of Omaha; brother, Jack Rogers (Louise) of Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dena Rogers.

MEMORIAL SERVICE Wednesday, Sept. 27th at 11am at the Bel Air Chapel of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuary, 12100 W. Center Rd. in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
