Raider cross country places second

The Sidney High School cross country team placed second in the Alliance meet Saturday.

Sidney followed Holdrege who finished the event 10 points ahead of Sidney. The Sidney High School cross country team took second in McCook Sept. 14 and fourth in the Alliance meet Saturday.

In the Alliance meet, Mitchell High School won the event with a score of 17, Gering came in second with a team score of 22, Chadron 64, Sidney 72 and Scottsbluff with a team score of 83. Sidney followed the No. 1 team Holdrege within 10 points during the McCook meet. McCook came in third and Perkins County fourth. In the girls competition, Sidney was second in the McCook meet and in the Alliance meet.

The McCook meet effort was lead by Collin Brauer who finished the race with a time of 12:03. Brauer did not compete in the Alliance meet. Sidney's Kaden Vowers came in sixth with a time of 12:37, followed by Jacob Peckham in 13th place with a time of 12:55. Caedon Snider finished 1`9th with a time of 13:14 and Dante Petersen finished with a time of 13:16.

The first Sidney runner to cross the Alliance finish line was Charlie Brockhaus in tenth place with a time of 15:31. Taighlor Arnett came in 12th with a time of 15:34. Hannah Kennedy finished 31st with a time of 17:14.9.

The middle school, junior varsity and varsity will be competing in the Ogallala Invite Thursday, Sept. 21, and the high school athletes will be competing in the University of Nebraska-Kearney High School Invite on Sept. 25.

Sidney hosts the Western Conference Sept. 30.
