Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
Sidney Elks Lodge is hosting its first ever golf tournament.
The fundraiser on Aug. 12 is open to the public, Scott Nienhueser, event organizer, said.
“We’re trying to raise funds to help kids and veterans,” he said. “We had a year where we had a lot of repairs and had to come up with more ideas.”
The tournament will be a four-man scramble, Nienhueser said.
“We’ll have flag prizes and probably a cash prize for the winners,” he said, “then will have a prime rib dinner after at the Elks Lodge.”
Funds from the fundraiser go toward local youth scholarships.
“If we get certain things going, the national Elks will donate funds to them,” Nienhueser said. “There’s an Americanism one for speech and they have hoop shoots, which we’re trying to get back to this year, get scholarships for that.”
To register for the tournament or donate, contact Sidney Elks Lodge at 254-1117.
Participants can register the day of the event.
