Sean Ewert, 49, of Sidney, faces 50 years and a minimum sentence of five years on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a class 1C felony.
Ewert was arrested June 30 as part of a WING taskforce bust at Sidney Post Office.
At Ewert's preliminary hearing Thursday in Cheyenne County Court, Judge Randin R. Roland found there was sufficient evidence for arraignment.
Jim Bush, Sidney Police Department investigator, testified that he met with other officers the morning of June 30 to execute a search warrant at roughly 7:30 a.m.
Ewert came out of the post office with a package, Bush said. He approached Ewert and confiscated the package. Inside, they found a substance that "field tested positive" for methamphetamine.
Three baggies with a "white crystal substance" found inside were weighed, with one baggie placed in an evidence bag, for a total of 117 grams.
A search warrant was then secured for Ewert's home. Bush testified oxycodone, methylphenidate and lorazepam were found in the bedroom and the dining room areas.
An interview was conducted with Ewert, Bush said.
"He advised us he was an addict. He started in February 2015 again," he said. "He had been getting approximately 1 ounce of meth per month in the mail."
