Cheyenne County Chamber will host the 10th annual Girl’s Day Out event in Historic Downtown Sidney this Saturday.
Girl’s Day Out gives ladies ages 12 and up an opportunity to enjoy “girl time” and support local merchants and home-based businesses.
Chamber Communications Director Sandy Goble said merchants will be open Saturday for the event.
“There will be at least 30 merchants participating that day,” Goble said. “downtown and extended downtown towards the French Door Antique Mall.”
Goble said home-based businesses will be spread throughout the town during the event as well and many merchants will have snacks and drinks.
Marty Dasovich, owner of Dasovma Consulting said they will be hosting complementary Bloody Marys, wine and cheese during the event.
Registration is $5 and the first 350 ladies receive “swag bags” filled with gifts, coupons, a free movie pass and a punch card.
Goble said last year’s bags went so fast they added an extra 50 bags this year. The punch card that is included in the bag is to be punched by participating merchants, and turned in prior to the movie for a chance to win a grand prize.
“We encourage participants to register early to receive the swag bags,” Goble said.
After ladies enjoy visiting area merchants, a movie will be provided at the Fox Theatre. Two movies will be shown “Hello My Name is Doris,” with Sally Field and the animated movie “Sing.”
“Cabela’s will also be holding two workshops at Fox Theatre,” Goble said. “One will be about fly fishing and the other will be about firearms.”
Registration for Girl’s Day Out will be held at Fox Theatre from 10 a.m. to noon beginning with complementary coffee and donuts.
“The swag bags will include information about retailers and a schedule of events,” Goble said.
