Elks Lodge hosts WOW improv group

Sidney’s Elks Lodge will be hosting a free will donation show and dinner featuring the Way Out West’s (WOW) improv group.

WOW’s improv group consists of five actors, Cindy Bartling MC and player, Katie Mead, Erin Huddleston, Jeremy Narjes and Michael Mead.

“We will be playing games like the dating game, addicts anonymous, freeze tag, as well as a new one called Beatnik Poet.We rely on the interaction of the audience to help set up the scenes for the players,” Bartling said.

“The improv show has possible situational humor however, WOW will base their performance on crowd,” Elk’s Lodge Manager Ken Steffens said.

The Elk’s lodge will be serving spaghetti with garlic bread and salad for the show, while supplies last Steffens said.

There is a suggested free will donation of $6 for the evening and proceeds will go to replace the hood vent in the lodge’s kitchen.

“We have run into the situation where the fire hood in the kitchen is antiquated and unusable, and must be replaced by June 1,” Steffens said.

Originally the replacement of the hood was more then $20,000 which Steffens said would be the end of the lodge. However, a recent donation from the previous owners of the Vine in Sidney of a replacement hood, lowered the costs to instillation fees.

Steffens said the Elks has a quite few upcoming events to aid in renovation costs of the lodge including Lucha Libre and Laughs, a stand-up comedy and pro wrestling event that will be held Saturday March 11.

The WOW fundraiser and dinner will be Saturday Feb, 25. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
