Sidney’s City Council is considering an amendment to the city’s liquor laws, including one change regarding consumption of liquor on city-owned property. An ordinance to alter the code was introduced on first reading at the Jan. 10 council meeting, and will come back before the council for a second look Jan. 24.
Sidney Chief of Police Joe Aikens said the proposed legislation would clean up the current code regarding alcohol.
“Our purpose is to clean up the ordinances; some of them are outdated, don’t apply anymore, so we are trying to bring those up to modern times,” Aikens said.
