Hearing to add to the Noxious weed list

Cheyenne County Commissioners will be holding a hearing to decide if Common mullein should be added as a noxious weed in Cheyenne County.

Common mullein (Verbascim thapsus) is a non-native species that occurs throughout most of North America. It’s origins in America are attributed to US settlers and Native Americans, due to it’s many uses.

According to Stevan Knezevic, Extension Weeds Specialist with the University of Lincoln, Common mullein is on the increase in northeastern Nebraska’s rangeland, woodland and pastures. It is a biennial plant that reproduces only by seeds, but it is a prolific...
