November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. There are multiple types of diabetes people can have which include, type one, type two and gestational diabetes.
Keith Jones, a former Sidney resident who now lives in Kimball was diagnosed with diabetes type one when he was five years old. His mother originally got him tested because he was excessively thirsty and hungry all the time and used the restroom more than usual.
Keith’s mother Vera Jones said “he was eating as much as a grown up and he would just get done eating and be hungry again, but he also was not gaining weight with as much as he ate, if anything he was losing weight.”
Keith said growing up the hardest part about having diabetes was being made fun of by the other children when he were to have a reaction.
