Sharman celebrates a century

Ada Sharman will have her share of visitors in the coming days, as she celebrates her 100th year on this earth with friends and family.

Ada's parents, Gus and Minnie Hennig, were immigrants from Germany. Ada said her dad was young when he snuck onto a ship bound for the United States.

"My parents came to Gurley at different times, but they were both from Germany," Ada said.

Born in 1916, Ada said she grew up in a farm house east of Gurley, but first lived with her uncle in what was a grain building before the family built their own house south of Lisco.
