Sidney cross country teams place fifth, ninth at state

Sidney High School's cross country team has held to the mantra of improving each time they run. They entered the state meet with only continued improvement in mind Saturday, and to let the chips fall where they may.

The chips feel very well for the Raiders, with both teams finishing in the top 10. Not a bad run for teams who went from being the largest Class C school to the smallest in Class B.

Sidney's girls finished fifth as a team, with two freshman leading the way. Taighlor Arnett crossed the line 20th individually, while classmate Kate Riggs was close behind in 23rd. Arnett traversed the state course in 20:51.8 and Riggs in 21:05.36.

The scoring Lady Raider runners finished close together, Hannah Kennedy coming in 25th (21:15.76) and Kara Birner running a 21:23.02 for 29th. Also running for Sidney were Kylie Rosdail, who finished 55th, and Emma Tuzicka was 56th.
