Brad A. Craig - Obituary

Brad A. Craig, age 58 of Sidney, passed away at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO, Thursday, September 22, 2016.

Memorial services will be at 9 a.m., Thursday, September 29 in the Sidney Church of Christ with Dustin Rocha officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Wednesday to sign Brad's register book and drop off condolences for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brad's name to the Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial, C/O Jones Bank, POB 469, Seward, NE 68434. These funds will be used to maintain the memorial and add new fallen officer's names to the walls. Bradley Austin Craig, the son of Neal Thompson Craig and Frances Rose (Lathrop) Craig, was born on September 30, 1957 in Sidney. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1975 and NJC in Sterling, CO in 1978 with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. In 1986 he received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from UNL in Lincoln. In 1978 Brad was united in marriage to Pam Brauer and they had three children, Tim, Lisa and Christopher. In 2003 he was united in marriage to Tammy (Scott) Mikkelson and was a father to her four children, Lyle, Andrew, Katlynne and Cassandra. Brad served fifteen years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, served as Deacon and Elder in his church, served on the Cheyenne County Fair Board and was a member of the Nebraska Society of Independent Accountants. He was an equipment operator for Filsinger Excavating and Emergency Services, employed and an accountant for OJGX Corporation/Sidney Lowe Railroad, was Vice President of Finance for Glover Group, owner of Craig & Associates Business Center, Executive Director of Sidney Housing Authority and most recently served as Corporate Accounting Manager at Cabela's Inc.

Brad enjoyed riding his motorcycles, camping, grilling and smoking foods, traveling throughout the United States, loved spending time with his family, taking occasional "Brad" days and had a strong interest in Politics. He was a member of the Centurions LEMC Motorcycle Club, was a passionate supporter of Law Enforcement Officers and felt honored to be able to feed the officers in his community.

Survivors include his wife: Tammy of Sidney; (7) children: Tim Craig and wife Amanda of Sidney, Lisa Rotert and husband James of LuVerne, IA, Christopher Craig and wife Amber of Rawlins, WY, Lyle Mikkelson and wife Megan of Sidney, Andrew Mikkelson and wife Shelby of Laramie, WY, Katlynne Mikkelson of Sidney and Cassandra Brown and husband Mike of Gurley; (18) grandchildren; (1) brother: Jack Craig and wife Dayle of Sidney and (1) sister: Kathleen Welsh and husband Steve of Carrollton, TX.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister: Rosemary Craig.
