Leyton’s volleyball team has a busy week closing with a 7-6 overall record after four matches.
The Lady Warriors competed in two trianulars, opening Tuesday with a two-set win over Garden County 25-17, 25-12, then challenged Bayard through three sets before losing 23-25, 26-24, 23-25.
Leyton Coach Jodi Craig said the Lady Warriors were on a roller coaster during the first part of the week, struggling to find consistency in their game. While Smith said Leyton needs to work on situational choices, “I commend the girls on never giving up through the Bayard match.
“We were down 8 to 10 points at times and they were able to keep working hard to make the scores respectable,” Smith said.
Leyton closed the week with another split in play against Mitchell and Hay Springs.
The Lady Warriors downed HaySprings 25-23, 25-13, but fell to Mitchell 3-1, winning the first set 25-23, then losing the following sets 15-25, 13-25.
The Lady Warriors travel to Bridgeport Thursday for their next match.
