Nebraska Shakespeare celebrates its 30th anniversary
Nebraska Shakespeare is proud to present its 2016 On Tour production of Hamlet on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m., at the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center. Nebraska Shakespeare will also be conducting an educational workshop at Sidney High School on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. for students.
According to Nebraska Shakespeare Artistic Director, Vincent Carlson-Brown, "Hamlet is a play about a boy who loved his father, and misses him dearly. It is a play about a boy who loses sight of love in a place that is paradoxically claustrophobic, as it grows too large for his own comprehension. A story of heartache, adolescence, responsibility, duty and honor, betrayal, and psychosis. The story wrestles with simple identity in a complicated world. And in its wake, a tragic remnant of ghosts landmark truths left untold."
Nebraska Shakespeare Festival is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1986 and is celebrating its 30th anniversary. This organization was originally founded on the belief that Shakespeare's life-affirming works are essential to broadening the cultural and educational environments of our community and they strive to produce innovative professional Shakespeare productions and educational forums.
Nebraska Shakespeare is part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a national program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
The group works with Creighton University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, the City of Omaha and generous benefactors, talented artists, seasoned staff and over 200 volunteers to bring productions to over 50,000 individuals a year.
The group's mission is to engage, educate and entertain its audience. Nebraska Shakespeare also offers a variety of activities outside of their performances, which include workshops on film and literary. Production seminars, backstage tours and the introduction of the statewide event "Talk Like Shakespeare Day" are also offered through Nebraska Shakespeare.
Ticket prices $10 for adults and $8 for children over the age of six.
