LITTLETON, Colo. - Running in one of the premier meets of the season, a number of Sidney cross country runners responded with personal best marks here in the Liberty Bell Invitational.
Sidney freshmen Kate Riggs and Taighlor Arnett continue to lead the girls runners, placing 22nd and 23rd, consecutively. Both girls had personal best marks for 5,000 meters. Riggs ran a 20:44.0, with Arnett just a second behind.
Hannah Kennedy finished at 22:04.0 and Kara Birner was just a few steps behind at 22:08.0. Both were personal best times.
As a team, Sidney finished in ninth place in its division with 256 points. Roosevelt High School won the division with an 82.
Sidney’s boys were 12th as a team, led by junior Kaden Vowers, who ran a personal best 17:57.0. Vowers was followed by classmate Colton Peckham, who finished in 18:54.0. Freshman Jacob Peckham logged a 19:32.0 and Will Castner finished in 20:26.0.
Sidney’s runners travel to McCook on Thursday for their next outing.
