Sidney City Council will be holding the first of its two September regular meetings tonight at 7:15p.m. in the council chambers located on 1115 13th Avenue.
At the meeting, council will be going over and voting on adopting 2016-17 budget summary for all city funds including the tax levy and unused budget.
Last year, Sidney’s property tax request was $2,017,844.66 with a tax rate of .435787. This year’s proposed 2016-17 property tax request is $2,089,077.94, with tax levy of .435787.
A request to increase restricted funds for the tax levy lid by one percent will also be discussed and considered for fiscal year.
Last year’s restricted funds were budgeted for $4,660,898. Council will be discussing the budget for restricted funds to increase to $4,824,029.43. This would include the one percent increase if approved.
Sidney’s total operating cost for the year is $44,330,723.
A request for Brandy Karnik to be appointed to the Planning Commission has been submitted and requests a vote by city council members.
