Cheyenne County Commissioners and the Cheyenne County Board of Equalization met Tuesday for their regular meeting at the Cheyenne County Court House in Sidney.

In the meeting the Cheyenne County Fair Board submitted reservation dates for the upcoming 2017 year, three event reservations were approved by the board. Also submitted for approval by the fair board was its annual inventory submitted by fair board member Anita Pennel and approved by the Commissioners.

Another request was submitted to the Commissioners for a circus to be held Sept. 19 at the Cheyenne County Fair Grounds. The event was denied by the Commissioners, citing a requirement that a person requesting such an event be present for questions relating to the proposed event. A similar request was denied in an Aug. 3 meeting due to insufficient information.

County tax certificate issuance on 2013 delinquent taxes was presented to and approved by the Board of Commissioners. Cheyenne County Treasurer Diane Scott said if the taxes are not paid they will be turned over to the county attorney.

Delta Waterfoul, a conservation and preservation organization, requested a special designated liquor license for a banquet to be held on Nov. 5. Matt Whipple, who presented the request, said the banquet aids in funding for waterfowl conservation, predator management and youth advocacy hunts. Whipple said the Nation-wide organization holds it’s own insurance and would be requesting the 4-H building and the kitchen. The request was approved.

Commissioners also approved the request by Judy Harris with the Oktoberfest committee for a special liquor license for the annual Oktoberfest event. Oktoberfest is scheduled to run Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

Highway Superintendent Doug Hart gave the Commissioners a road update in Tuesday’s meeting. A Hydraulic Study will be conducted to remove a bridge and change it to a box culvert on Rd. 109 south of Rd. 38 in Cheyenne County. Hart said the hydraulic study is based on flood mapping, and makes sure that the culvert is big enough to handle a certain amount of water. After receiving complaints, Hart also said he plans on improving efficacy of sloping being conducted in the area.

Commissioners reviewed the contract with Adams Industries regarding maintenance of Rd. 99 and 34 in Cheyenne County. A copy of the contract between Cheyenne County and Adams will be sent to Adams Industry.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 19 at 8 a.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Cheyenne County Court House located at 1000 10th Ave. in Sidney.
