Jessie M. Huaracha, 87 of Sidney, passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care on Monday, August 29, 2016.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 3 with a Rosary Service at 6 p.m., Friday, September 2. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Inurnment will follow Mass in the Chappell Cemetery. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. to sign Jessie's register book and drop off condolences for the family. Jessie Mary Huaracha, the daughter of Sabino Antonio and Maria Refugia (Mendez) Huaracha Sr., was born on June 8, 1929 at Chappell, NE. She attended the Chappell Schools before moving to the Chicago area to work for her Uncle in his Tavern and returned to care for her parents and family. Once her children were born, they moved to California for a time and then back to Chappell. Jessie worked at various restaurants in the Chappell area.
She attended both St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chappell and St. Patrick's in Sidney. Jessie loved to cook and spend time with her family.
Survivors include: (4) children: Linda Rivera and husband Isaac of Gurley, NE, Janet Demar of Sidney, Eva Burch of Sidney and Mark Huaracha of Salt Lake City, UT; (2) brothers: Joe Huaracha of Greeley, CO and Sabino Huaracha Jr. and wife Helen of Santa Ana, CA; (12) grandchildren, (8) great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, (1) son: Michael, (2) sisters: Esther and Mary and (1) brother: Lupe.
