Sidney TeamMates Mentoring Program along with Security First Bank and Security First Insurance will be holding it’s fourth annual tailgate party for the Sidney Red Raiders.
“Security First Bank and Security First Insurance have sponsored this event for the last four years, and all the proceeds go to Sidney’s TeamMates program,” said Brenda Jessen with TeamMates.
TeamMates was founded in 1994 and began in Sidney 2011 in an effort to bring support and encouragement to school age children. The program serves students in grades five through twelve, at West Elementary, Sidney Middle School, and Sidney High School. Students nominate themselves and have parent permission to participate in the program.
The tailgate barbeque will be held Friday August 26 starting at 5:30 p.m. rain or shine. The pre-game barbeque will be held in the area of the south Sidney High School parking lot.
In the Event of bad weather, the event will be held in the high school commons area, Jessen said.
The barbeque is a free will offering benefiting the local Sidney TeamMates chapter. Sidney Raiders will play their first home game against the Lexington Minutemen the evening, kick-off for the game is set for 7 p.m.
