Cheyenne County Commissioners meeting

Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners and the Board of Equalization held regular meetings on Monday at the Cheyenne County Courthouse in Sidney.

In the Board of Equalization meeting, Louella Pippitt, county assessor, presented for review ownership and use of all cemetery property in Cheyenne County. With no changes, the Commissioners approved the review before exiting the Board of Equalization into the Board of Commissioners meeting.

Requests for the use of the Cheyenne County fairgrounds for purpose of a traveling Circus was presented. Without a representative of the circus present, the Commissioners citied insufficient information as the reason for their denial for the event.

Highway Superintendent, Doug Hart, discussed the county’s Hazard Mitigation Plan with the Commissioners. A hazard mitigation is a plan that eliminates or reduces risk to human life during the occurrence of natural disasters.

Hart also updated the Commissioners on road activities. Hart said they were looking into options for an overlay on the asphalt slab at the fairgrounds where the Oktoberfest tent is put up, reducing tripping hazards.

The Commissioners then went into executive session to discuss personnel.

The next Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Monday August 15 at 8 a.m. inside the commissioners meeting room inside the county court house.
