Cabelas announces number of employees affected by Quad/Graphics partnership

Cabela’s has released further information on the number of employees affected by the partnership with Quad/Graphics.

On May 25, Cabela’s announced it would be transitioning its creative services to an outside company, Quad Graphics.

Quad/Graphics is a media and print provider with its corporate office in Wisconsin. Quad Graphics has 54 locations across the country, and global locations in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

With questions circulating about the future of Cabela’s the approximate numbers of affected employees were released by Cabela’s Thursday.

According to Nathan Borowski, communications specialist at Cabela’s, approximately 120 employees were impacted by the transition.

“Of the 120 Outfitters impacted, five have accepted another position at Cabela’s, three have announced their intentions to retire,” Borowski said. “Additionally, based on the best information available as of today, approximately 90 of the impacted Outfitters have been offered a position at Quad/Graphics.”

“There were some impacted Outfitters who did not apply for positions with Quad/Graphics or Cabela’s,” Borowski said.

In an interview at the beginning of June, Borowski said, “We take it as a very positive sign that Quad is willing to come and operate a facility here in Sidney that shows their commitment to us, that shows their commitment to the Sidney community.

“I don’t think they would be willing to bring a facility here if they did not see it as a good opportunity for their company,” Borowski said.

Quad/Graphics will set up a facility in the 600 block of Illinois (the old Alco building), leasing a portion of the building.

“It is a multi-year lease and a multi-year contract. Hopefully something the Sidney community will see as a promising sign,” Borowski said.

July 31 is the date currently set for the change to take affect, Borowski said, with Quad Graphics set to open in August.

“There will be quite a bit of a transition period, working out the details of the transition,” Borowski said. “We will keep a team in house that will over see and have the final review of what the Quad/Graphics team will carry out.”
