Nebraska standards change affect Sidney schools

Sidney students will see some changes this coming school year when it comes to math standards and assessment testing.

Changes to the math standards were passed on a state level in September 2015. Sherri Ehler, Sidney School Curriculum Director said there is a one-year window before the standards must be in place at a local level.

At Tuesday’s school board meeting, the board passed the math and assessment changes unanimously.

I'm very much against this action. Common Core is such bunk that many states are passing laws against it. New York is one state that adopted the standards and that state is in turmoil from grassroots efforts to abolish it and they are gaining ground.
