Vernon was born July 12, 1941 in Sidney, NE to Raymond and Anna (Frerichs) Jobman. He excelled in football, basketball, and track in high school. Vernon graduated from Dalton High School and attended Chadron State College where he played baseball. On August 27, 1961, Vernon married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Louise Weed. Vernon dedicated his life to farming and ranching in the Lisco and Broadwater areas. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. He was a member of the school board in Lisco, NE.
Vernon's hobbies included junior legion and town team baseball and team roping with his children and grandchildren. Vernon loved watching his own children compete in various sporting events; including rodeo, state track, Husker games, and state volleyball. As life progressed, Vernon lived for the grandchildren. He farmed/ranched and attended as many sporting events as he could possibly attend. Vernon dealt with diabetes the last 25 years, but focused his time on farming/ranching and spending time with his family. He thought the world of his two daughters-in-law, and his son-in-law. Vernon enjoyed playing cards and dancing with his soul mate, Kathy Lou. Nothing made Vernon happier than giving of himself and his time to his family and friends.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife Kathy Lou; children Steven (Sherry) Jobman of Bayard, NE, Randall (Christy) Jobman of Worden, MT, and Julie (Justin) Welsh of Scottsbluff, NE; grandchildren Samantha (Bryce) Stoltenberg of Minatare, NE, Shaylee Jobman of Gering, NE, Spencer Jobman and fiancé Justine Peters of Torrington, WY, Renae and Michael Jobman of Worden, MT, and Curtis and Sally Welsh of Scottsbluff, NE; great grandchildren Braxtyn and Brielle Stoltenberg; sisters-in-law Anna Fae Van Anne of Dalton, NE, Mary Lynn (Bob) Sullivan of Oklahoma City, OK, and Betty Jean Baldwin of Spokane, WA; and brother-in-law Ray (Marlene) Weed of Cheyenne, WY.
