JOAN E. YOUNG

Joan E. Young, 63 of Oshkosh, NE and former Sidney resident, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies, Saturday, May 14, 2016. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 3rd in the First Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Curtiss Davis officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday to sign Joan's register book and drop off condolences for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of the family. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Joan's care and funeral arrangements. Joan Elizabeth Young, the daughter of John and Mary (Sanderson) Trumbull was born on January 23, 1953 at Little Rock, AR. On July 21, 2001, Joan was united in marriage to Bill Young in Sidney. Joan worked at various jobs but focused her abilities on taking care of those in need. She loved dancing, gardening, fishing and spending time with family, friends her loving husband Bill and her fur babies. Survivors include her husband Bill of Oshkosh; her children: Shondra of York, NE; Cynthia of Sidney and Rodger of Grantsburg, IN; step-daughter: Jill Dole and husband Cliff; grandchildren: Jonah Moore of Sidney, Kendall McNally of Lincoln and Steven Simpson of Sidney; step-grandchildren: Brody and Jordon Dole; sister: Ester Butterfield and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends. Joan was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Trumbull; sisters: Mary Chilewski and Janice Zajicek; brother: John Trumbull; mother-in-law: Lela Young and infant daughter: Blinda.
