Tuff-N-Nuff Bull riding in Potter June 25

Looking for something new to bring to his family-run rodeos, Johnny Hopkins, founder of Tuff-N-NUFF miniature rodeo association, began involving himself in the business of bulls.

In 2009 Hopkins leased his first 10 miniature bucking bulls from a breeder in Oklahoma. With the first and second events a success, Tuff-N-Nuff miniature rodeo was formed.

Hopkins said "he is looking forward to making this tour the largest miniature bull riding event in the world."

One of the tour stops will be the Potter Car Bowl June 25. Drew Enevoldsen, event organizer said last year they hosted the Tiny Twisters miniature bull riding, where five local riders participated.

Registration is open to everyone ages 14 and under. The champion rider at the Potter rodeo will receive a silver belt buckle, said Hopkins.

The Tuff-N-Nuff crew will bring in approximately 30 bulls the night before the event.

In order to qualify for the miniature bull riding finals held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, January 12-15, riders need to have five qualifying rides.

Hopkins said with the rodeo in Potter being one of the qualifying events for Oklahoma, riders from 8 different states could come for their qualifying ride.

The Potter Car Bowl has a multitude of events with the miniature bull riding as one of the day's last events. Also on tap are a car and motorcycle show, tractor show and an open bowling tournament at the historic Duckpin Bowling alley. The popular Potter Melodrama also will add to the day's activities.

Riders ages 14 and under can register for the miniature bull riding by calling Johnny Hopkins at 515-571-6922.
