Central Elementary School kindergartners took a trip on Tuesday to the Cheyenne County Sheriff's office in Sidney to learn how law enforcement protects the community from criminal activity. Sheriff John Jenson and several of his deputies led students on a tour through the office and introduced them to "Colonel," an eight-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd with the sheriff's K-9 unit. Pictured is Deputy Adam Frerichs and "Colonel" along with kindergartners from Shelby Lingbloom's class. Frerichs said he has worked with the German Shepherd since 2011.
