Cyclists of all ages are invited to take part in the first High Plains Ride For Sight Sunday, May 29, beginning at 6 a.m., sponsored by the Pine Bluffs Lions Club and Cheyenne Vision Center.
Pre-registration will be held at the Pine Bluffs Community Center Friday, May 20, from 3 to 5 p.m., and again on Saturday, May 21, at Rock on Wheels, from 3 to 5 p.m. Late registration will be held Sunday morning, May 29, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. For information regarding registration, call Gary Roadifer at (307) 421-7257 or email [email protected].
The course will leave the Pine Bluffs City Park, follow Highway 30 over to Highway 213 (Burns), up to the junction of Highway 216, and return to the park. Riders can choose the number of miles they would like to ride, from 10 miles to the full 70-mile course.
The course will be monitored in the event a cyclist runs into problems and is unable to finish the ride. There will also be rest stops for riders approximately every 10 miles along the route. A Continental breakfast will be held for participants from 6 to 7 a.m., and a lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cyclists will receive tickets for the Continental breakfast, lunch and door prizes when they pay their registration fee, along with a t-shirt and water bottle.
This is the Pine Bluffs Lions Club main fundraiser of the year, and proceeds will be used for the club’s various projects during the year including assisting residents of Eastern Laramie County who are visually impaired; the Wyoming Early Childhood Vision Screening project; Leader Dogs for the Blind; the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank and Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation; and the Allen H. Stewart Lions Camp.
