Regular city council meeting scheduled for Tuesday

City pay grid modification, rezoning requests on agenda

Modification of the City of Sidney’s pay grid is on the agenda for consideration and possible action during this week’s regular meeting of the Sidney City Council, scheduled for this Tuesday, April 26, beginning at 7:15 p.m. in the city council chambers at the Sidney City Hall located at 1115 13th Ave.

Administration is recommending the city’s pay grid be modified to address salary survey concerns regarding its comparability to other employers as well as reflect implications of the new minimum wage level set at $9 an hour.

The council had approved the current pay grid nearly three years ago.

City council will also consider a rezoning request to rezone the Cheyenne County fairgrounds from single-family residential, or R-1, to Agricultural. The Sidney Planning Commission had voted unanimously in favor of the change during their April meeting held last week.

A preliminary and final plat, along with a rezoning request from Agricultural to Light Commercial, or C-1, for The Ranch subdivision is on Tuesday’s agenda as well. Council will also set dates for public hearings on the county fairgrounds and The Ranch rezonings, with administration recommending it be done during their May 10 regular meeting.

Council will also consider, according to the agenda, a presentation from Diamondback Engineering of a change order the water pipeline east booster pump station. The change order covers contractor’s costs for de-mobilizing and re-mobilizing on the pipeline project caused by the condemnation process for the property north of Highway 30, and for hitting an unmarked storm sewer on the north side of Pole Creek Crossing at the pump station.
