At the age of 94 years, 3 months and 26 days, Verna I. Lingwall went to her new home to be with her Lord. Verna was born on Dec. 14, 1921 to John F. and Ada I. (Wesche) Seevers in Naper.
She graduated from Plainview High School in 1940. Following graduation, she became a teacher in a one room schoolhouse. On July 13, 1946, Verna was united in marriage to Donald Lingwall in Sidney. Verna worked as a custodian at Concordia University for 35 years, retiring in 2004. In her free time she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward.
Verna passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, peacefully at home, in Seward, surrounded by her family. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 13, at the Volzke Funeral Home in Seward from 1 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Services were held Thursday, April 14, at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at the Seward Cemetery.
Verna is survived by her sons Allen (Debi) Lingwall of Ashland, Larry (Cristie) Lingwall of Goehner; daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Fraass of Lodgepole, Donna (James Lee) Daniels of Lodgepole, Janet (Scott) Boe of Arlington, Wash, Carol McDowell of Victoria, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Gerald) Gerler of Seward; brothers, John F. (Arlene) Seevers, Jr., Gary L. (Thelma) Seevers, of Seward; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Gerih of Sidney; Lorraine Seevers of Sacramento, Calf.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Seevers; husband, Donald L. Lingwall; brothers, Wilfred Seevers, Arnold Seevers, Herbert Seevers; sister, Fern Seevers; grandchildren, Jeffery A. Lingwall, Tracy Lingwall Harnly; great-grandchild, Christopher Riddle.
