The body Michigan State University Police found April 13 on the south side of campus has been identified as missing French senior Patrick Kegan Cochrane. Cochrane was 21-years-old.
Cochrane was last seen around 3:15 p.m. April 8 in Snyder-Phillips Hall. Information gathered by police and posted on Cochrane’s social media, such as his Facebook page, indicated he had plans to take his own life.
Working with the Michigan State Police Aviation Unit, MSUPD located the body at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday morning during a search in a heavily wooded area east of the Baker Woodlot on the south side of campus.
Police do not suspect foul play is related to his death. However, police are still investigating the incident. MSU spokesperson Jason Cody said the cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner in the coming days.
