Dr. James Thayer of the Sidney Regional Medical Center was awarded the Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award by Alpha Omega Alpha with the University of Nebraska Medical Center's (UNMC) College of Medicine.
Alpha Omega Alpha, or AOA, is the national honorary organization for physicians whose membership is based upon scholarship and moral qualities. Its Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award is presented annually to recognize a community physician who contributes with distinction to the education and training of clinical students.
The award is given by the UNMC students to a community physician who effectively and generously donates his time, skill and experience to teach clinical skills to medical students.
"I am so honored to receive this recognition and many thanks to each member of the SRMC team that helps with the medical students while they are at SRMC," Thayer said.
Thayer was recognized at the AOA Annual Banquet, held March 24 in Omaha.
