Local artists on display at annual art guild spring show

The Cheyenne County Art Guild is holding its 43rd annual spring art show this weekend, showcasing more than 20 pieces from area artists.

"The pieces submitted are professional to semi professional, and are mostly available for purchase," Art Guild President Cindy Egging said.

The Cheyenne County Art Guild was established in 1976 by Paul Atkins and Jan Pippit. Egging said the group is currently comprised of about 30 members who meet once a month and hold mini workshops where they get the opportunity to learn different mediums of art.

"We will be having a workshop April 16 at the Presbyterian church in Sidney," Egging said.

The annual spring show has been held for the past 43 years, said Art Guild member Ben Darling.

Some of the art on display will be judged and the winning pieces will be sent to the state competition. The winning pieces from that competition will travel around Nebraska.

The 2016 Cheyenne County Art Guild Annual Spring Show began Friday afternoon from 2 to 7 p.m., and will continue Saturday, April 9, from 9 to 5 p.m and Sunday, April 10, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cheyenne County Visitors Center located at 658 Glover Rd.
