The Cheyenne County Art Guild will hold its 43rd annual Spring Show at the Cheyenne County Visitors Center located at 648 Glover Rd. between the Subway and Dairy Queen restaurants in Sidney. The show will feature the latest work by award-winning artists in the region. Original artwork, prints, collectible sets of greeting cards are for sale, door prize and raffle. The Spring Show will be on Friday, April 8, from 2 - 7 p.m., Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 10, from noon - 4 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Sidney Stingrays Swim Team registration - Come to the Spring Expo April 9 & 10 or the Community Center until the end of April to register. Summer Swim Lessons - Classes run the weeks of June 13, 20, 27 & July 11. Lessons are at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., there will be a registration fee.

Parenting program designed to give you practical skills that can be used immediately! These will be held on Mondays beginning on April 11 through May 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Community Center in Sidney. Call (308) 249-5332 for more information.

Friday, April 8

Pairs-N-Half-A-Pair Square Dance Club will have a Spaghetti Supper for the public on Friday, April 8 at the IOOF Hall in Gering. Supper will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a mainstream dance at 7 p.m. Tickets may be bought at the door. A bake sale will be going on during the supper also. This is a good opportunity to watch the square dancing.

Saturday, April 9

Light Memorial Presbyterian Church is having its annual Spring Rummage and Bake Sale on Saturday, April 9 from 9 to 2 p.m., at the Church, 14th and Linden Streets, in Sidney. Please use the west door on 14th Street.

Monday, April 11

Cheyenne County Art Guild Meeting meets the second Monday of each month at Light Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1345 Linden (enter through west door). For more information, contact Jane Easterly, (308) 254-4052.

Tuesday, April 12

WNCC’s Veterans Upward Bound Program will host a Veterans Stand Down event on Tuesday, April 12. Services provided include food, clothing, free haircuts, health screenings, employment, and housing referrals to name a few! Veterans Stand Down will begin at 10 a.m. in the Harms Advanced Technology Center located at 2620 College Park in Scottsbluff, NE. The event will conclude at 2 p.m., all veterans are welcome.

Wednesday, April 13

Cultural Expressions Event, a free community gathering, will be held on Wednesday, April 13, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Sidney High School in the Performing Arts Center. Join SHS students & staff for the presentation of the award-winning “Orgullo” mural and first-place “Breaking Stereotypes” skit and three poems will be presented by SHS students as well. Special guest performances will include speeches, drums, and Aztec dances by Metro State University graduate students. The event is free to the community and is appropriate for people of all ages.

Cancer survivor support group meets every SECOND Thursday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Dorwart Cancer Care Center. Great topics/food/fellowship. Call Leslie at (308) 250-1113 with questions.

Saturday, April 23

The First United Methodist Church, along with the Sidney Police Department, is sponsoring a bike rodeo at the Legion Park Shelter House on April 23, from 9 to 11 am. Children can get their bike checked for the upcoming season and there will be a safety course they can ride.
