The Sidney Rotary Club is once again pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2016 Scholarship. The annual award will again be for $1,000 and may be awarded to anyone who is accepted at a post secondary institution, whether it is a university, college, trade or vocational school.
Each candidate is required to complete an application and provide information about the qualities that they possess and which they feel will further qualify them for consideration. The Sidney Rotary Scholarship Committee will interview candidates after receipt of their application and an interviewing timetable has been established. This scholarship is not need or scholastic based, but the Committee judges each candidate based on their application, interview process, overall character, leadership, outside activities as well as community service.
Applications are available at the Sidney High School guidance office or by request and will need to be completed and returned to Mrs. Kelsey in the guidance office by Friday, April 15th. It is anticipated that the interviews and selection will be conducted soon thereafter.
For questions or inquiries, applicants may contact Mrs. Kelsey at the High School Guidance Office or by telephoning Rotary Scholarship Committee Chairman, Greg Scripp at (308) 254-7275 during business hours or (308) 254-3998 after hours.
For more than 90 years, the Sidney Rotary Club has maintained a presence in Sidney, supporting youth activities such as summer baseball, CASA, Study Buddy, Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp, student foreign exchange programs and the Rotary Scholarship.
