Shirley M. Fisher, 83 of Sidney, passed away at the SRMC Extended Care Tuesday evening, March 22, 2016.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 28, in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney with Rev. Tar Drazdowski of the Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday to drop off condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to SRMC Hospice or the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Shirley’s care and funeral arrangements.
Shirley Mae Fisher, the daughter of Carl and Frances (Krussel) Barowsky, was born on July 27, 1932 at Omaha. She grew up in South Omaha and loved Joe Tess’ carp and catfish. Shirley loved to travel and go to the casinos and play bingo and pickle cards. She and her husband Russ used to love playing bingo at the Elks and spending time with friends. Shirley was an avid bowler carrying a 165 average and attended several State Bowling Tournaments with the gals.
Survivors include (2) sons: Charles “Chuck” Bojanski of Sidney and Chris Fisher and wife LeAnn of Eagan, Minn.; (1) sister: Jackie Ratute and husband Paul of Omaha and (1) brother: Dick Barowsky and wife Janet of Arvada, Colo.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Russ, parents, (4) brothers: Bob, Don, Carl and Edward Barowsky and (1) sister: Evelyn “June” Amato.
