Fairgrounds expansion on agenda for Monday commissioners meeting

The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners convene for a regular meeting a 8 a.m. Monday in the commissioners meeting room at the county courthouse located at 1000 10th Avenue in Sidney.

On the agenda is discussion of a proposal to expand the event area at the county fairgrounds for a monster truck event at the county fair. Commissioners will also discuss bidding requirements for related projects as well as zoning requirements at the fairgrounds.

The boards will also open, review and consider approval of sealed bids for armor coating on Project 7, encompassing 4.5 miles on County Road 8 between CR103 west of Lorenzo and the end of the asphalt; Project 8, which covers about three miles on CR8 between CR115 and CR121; and Project 9, entailing nearly 4.5 miles on CR111 from the Sidney city limits to CR32.

Commissioners will also discuss an application for county general assistance regarding county burial for Dorothy G. Mitchell and policy options for drug and alcohol testing of employees.

Also on the agenda are presentations from Tina Hochwender, economic development director with the City of Sidney, as well as from Doug Hart, Cheyenne County highway superintendent, who will update the commissioners on road activities.

The meeting will conclude following an executive session to discuss personnel and comments from the public.
