Wheat Belt awards six scholarships

Wheat Belt Public Power District announced that it has awarded six scholarships to area youth.

Katelyn Higgins of Dalton was selected to receive the $1,000 Basin Scholarship. Higgins is the daughter of Robert and Lianne Higgins. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the fall. Her major course of study will be nutrition, exercise and health sciences.

Caitlyn Deal of Sidney was selected to receive a $500 Tri-State Scholarship. She is the daughter of John and Jennifer Deal. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the fall and her major course of study will be in pre-veterinary medicine.

Diedra Waite of Dalton was selected to receive the second $500 Tri-State Scholarship. She is the daughter of Rollie and Kate Waite. She plans to attend Southeast Community College in Beatrice in the fall and her major course of study will be in English.

Emily Mahr of Sidney was selected to receive a $500 Wheat Belt Technical Scholarship. She is the daughter of Steve and Donna Mahr. She will be attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and her course of study will be in biology with an emphasis in pre-physician’s assistant.

Jayden DeCora of Bridgeport was selected to receive the second $500 Wheat Belt Technical Scholarship. She is the daughter of John and Mary DeCora. She plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the fall and her major course of study will be elementary and special education (K-6).

Natalie Cruise of Dalton was selected to receive the $100 Arbor Wealth Management Scholarship. She is the daughter of John and Colleen Cruise. Cruise plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in the fall and her major course of study will be in business.

The Wheat Belt scholarship program is designed to encourage and recognize the academic achievements and provide financial assistance to deserving children of member consumers.
