District tourney begins Thursday for Sidney girls, Monday for boys

The District B6 tournament gets underway for Sidney on Thursday night when the Lady Raiders face the winner of tonight's Scottsbluff/Gering battle.

Top-seeded Sidney will take on the winner of that game at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Prairie View School in Ogallala.

The winner of Thursday's game advances to Friday's 6 p.m. final and will face either Alliance or McCook.

The Lady Raiders (17-6) are 7-1 against district foes during the regular season. They went 3-0 against Alliance, 2-0 against Gering and 2-0 against Scottsbluff. Their lone blemish against district foes came in a 51-46 loss at McCook on Jan. 9.

In the boys District B6 bracket released Tuesday, Sidney will face Alliance at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 29. If the second-seeded Raiders win, they will play in the district title game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1. All games will be played at Prairie View School in Ogallala.

The Raiders (21-3) enter the tournament with an 8-2 mark against district competition. The Raiders went 4-0 against Gering, 2-1 against Alliance, 1-1 against Scottsbluff and 1-0 against McCook in games this season.
